· Applying the lever rule in two steps to determine the distribution of Cementite permits its distribution in the final alloy to be evaluated.
· At (723 + ε) C: WγFe = (6.67 - 1.2)/(6.67 - 0.02) = 92.7 %,
Wcarbide = (1.2 - 0.77)/(6.67 - 0.02) = 7.3 %.
· At (723 - ε), the remaining 92.7% austenite with the eutectoid composition transforms to 88 wt % Ferrite and 12 wt % Cementite, with the eutectoid lamella structure.

· The final weight percents of ferrite and Carbide are: WαFe = (88% x 92.7) = 81.6 %,
Wcarbide = (7.3 + 12% x 92.7) =18.4 %.
· For this alloy, 40% of the brittle carbide is on the grain boundaries, and the resulting alloy tends to be brittle and fracture by inter-granular fracture.
