Plastic Deformation

· Many more slip systems exist in the bcc structure and the resolved shear stress is similar on several of these for a single applied stress.
· From the beginning of the deformation process more than one slip system will be active and the larger work hardening rate reflects the additional dislocation interactions that this makes possible.
· Understanding dislocation-dislocation, and dislocation-impurity interactions is required for an understanding of work-hardening processes.
