Tresca
Model
· Tresca estimated the critical shear stress, τcr , from uniaxial tensile test data. · This model assumes that uniaxial yield stress data will give the critical shear stress for the multi-axial stress condition. · For simple uniaxial tension: σ1 = σ, and σ2 = σ3 = 0. · The maximum resolved shear stress is for a plane at 45o to the tensile axis in a direction at 45o to the tensile axis so that θ = Φ= 45o and: tcr= τres= σycosθcosΦ = σy/2. · In the triaxial stress state, the yield criterion is given by: τcr = (σi - σj) /2 = σy/2 , where (i, j) can be any pair of (1,2,3) . |
