Away from the towns land transportation is frequently by foot on unpaved roads. Bicycles may also be used on these roads to transport heavy loads or decrease travel time. The photograph shows a group making a journey home from town after purchasing food supplies, an almost daily journey for many households because of the lack of suitable storage facilities.

In addition to food, fuel collection is another important activity and as supplies decrease the journey on foot to find suitable supplies increases in duration.
