On
Tuesday night, 19 year-old Jordan Schuster inaugurated what has become a
massive memorial site at Union Square by taping large pieces of cardboard
on the ground.
Around
mid-day Wednesday, Oleksandr Zheleznyak, a Ukrainian sculptor and Edvard
Sargsyan, an Armenian scientist, brought and set up this
candle
that they had spent all night making. By early evening on Thursday, when
I took this photograph, the column was surrounded by hundreds of candles
and other items.
