Fuse Wire

The fuse wire is used for igniting the sample to be burned in the oxygen in the bomb. About 10 cm of wire should be used. The wire is connected to the electrodes that pass through the bomb lid. To make a good electrical connection the wire should be looped back on itself after passing through the holes in the electrodes. The wire should dip down towards the center of the sample, but does not need to be in contact with the sample.

For the fusewire the heat of combustion is 2.3 cal/cm. Measure the unburned length after the bomb is opened and correct the heat of combustion for this wire contribution.
