Hot Plate

The hot plate provides the thermal energy required to melt the indium. The heating rate may be adjusted by using the left hand control knob. The indium should be taken about 20 C above its melting point and then the test tube, thermocouple hot junction, and holder should be removed from the hot plate and a cooling curve obtained.

Do Not Overheat the Indium. The Vapor should not be Inhaled.
