Specific Heat

When a mass of material adsorbs heat energy its temperature increases. The temperature rise
DT is related to the heat transfer DQ through the Heat Capacity C:

C = (
DQ/ DT) , a quantity that is dependent on the Mass, m, of material.

The mass independent "specific" heat capacity is:

(C/m) = (
DQ/m DT) = ( Dq/ DT)

A molar heat capacity is the heat capacity per mole of material and may be referred to a gram mole or a killogram mole of the substance.

For Water at one Atmosphere: c = 4186 J/ K kg
