www.princeton.edu/~honore/programs/HLprograms/final
contains the data and a set of programs that can be used to generated
the results presented in Honoré and Lleras-Muney: "Bounds
in Competings Risks Models and the War on Cancer" . Routines better
suited for adaption to other purposes can be found at www.princeton.edu/~honore/programs/HL-M
The raw data can be found in final/bodeathrates2.txt.
A short explanation is given in final/Data
Description.html. The hazard rates are calculated in final/create_hazard_rates.prg
The programs table2.gau and table3.gau are Gauss programs used to
generate the results in Table 2 and Table 3. They call the routines
utils.gau, utils1.gau and utils3.gau.(also in www.princeton.edu/~honore/programs/HLprograms/final).
They also call the compiled fortran routines simplex1.so
(under Linux; the source code is in simplex1.for)
or sim_new.dll
(under
windows; the source code is in simplex1.for).
utils.gau has to be modified to refelect the location of
those files.
Figures 1 and 2 were generated by final/Figure1_Hazards.gau and final/Figure2_Peterson_Bound.gau.
The numbers in Tables 4 (and 4a of the Appendix)
are created in the folder final/counter.
The relevant program is final/counter/Table4_2006.gau.
The estimation underlying Figure 4 are in the folder final/with kinks.
