The Princeton High School Studio Band plays a wide variety
of big band music, ranging from classic Ellington and Basie arrangements
to the latest Hank Levy and Dennis DiBlasio compositions.
In Spring 2000, the Band placed first in a national
competition of high school jazz bands, held at Johns Hopkins University.
In addition, the Band will play at Downbeat Magazine's JVC Jazz
Festival in New York City in June 2000.
The band is a five-time first-place winner at the Berklee Jazz Festival
in Boston and has played for the inaugural balls of Presidents Reagan
and Bush.
Jacket and tie encouraged.

Map to PHS: GIF (22KB)
There are very few bands at the same level of musicianship as PHS in the entire country, so the Band must travel in order to compete against those bands.
The Band hopes to participate in some of the following interstate
competitions: Rutgers, Lakewood, Mountain Jazz Festival, and others.
The Band has also applied for the national competition in
Washington, DC.
Other invitations for this year include a rare opportunity for any high
school band: to play at Downbeat Magazine's JVC Jazz Festival
in New York City in June, and at an international jazz festival
of professional musicians in New Orleans.
