The field hockey program at Princeton was one of the six original women's sports introduced at the University 26 years ago. Throughout the years the program has had its share of successes, including five Ivy League titles, three NCAA tournament appearances and 16 appearances in postseason play, including seven consecutive AIAW bids from 1975-1981 and ECAC berths in each of head coach Beth Bozman's first five seasons.
Princeton has the best winning percentage of any Ivy program all-time with a 209-127-38 (.610) overall record. The Tigers are the first team to go undefeated two years in a row and the only team to go undefeated three times. Princeton has advanced to the NCAA tournament in each of the last two years and recorded its first tourney victory with a 3-0 win against Syracuse in 1995, advancing to the final eight.
Princeton has produced the Ivy League Player of the Year each of the past three years: Liz Fagan in 1993 and 1994 and Lisa Rebane in 1995. The league's Rookie of the Year award has gone to a Princeton player four of the past five years: Fagan, Rebane and Amy MacFarlane won the award in 1991, 1992, and 1993, respectively, and Kirsty Hale became the most recent winner in 1995.
Several All-Americas also have come from Princeton. In the past two years six Tigers have earned All-America status with Fagan and Rebane each taking first-team honors.
