Qualifications:
Radu has 25 years experience in the area of
computational and experimental soil mechanics (soil liquefaction,
dynamic soil-structure interaction, design and verification of
embankment dams, site characterization based on laboratory and in-situ
soil tests, centrifuge modeling). In his research he uses the tools of
probabilistic mechanics to address various uncertainties manifested in
the geologic environment (e.g. stochastic variability of soil
properties, natural hazards). Other areas of expertise include
finite element methods, nonlinear constitutive theories
and foundation engineering.
