1.6 Using the mouse

If a mouse is available then it can be used for selecting items from the menu, except where a name or number is required (in this case data must be entered via the keyboard).

For a three button mouse using WIN95/NT/Motif, the buttons have the following meaning when used for selecting menu options:

Left Button - Select the item
Right Button - Cancel the selected item (i.e. cancel the last command in the command sequence)

The Middle Mouse or <SHIFT> and Left Mouse Button selects the item and gives access to any optional submenu.

Remember that typing '/' also cancels the last command in the command sequence.

Esc or “//” cancels all the command and returns to the top level.

In addition, there are certain operations (such as defining a surface) where the left and middle buttons have specific functions. The user should be aware of this; more details can be found in the User Manual under the relevant command.

Further hardware dependant operating instructions are contained in the FEMGV Installation and Customisation Guide.
