The VIEW OPTIONS EDGES code has been extended to calculate the profile edges in order to provide better displays of tetrahedral element models.

Where:

OUTLINE = Profile edges plus Connectivity 1 edges

MATERIALS = Material boundary edges plus OUTLINE edges

i.e Profile, Connect-1 and Material edges

CONNECT-1 = FV : CONNECT: Edges with connectivity 1

FG : OUTLINE: Edges connected to LINES

Profile edges are edges that have attached free faces that have face normals > 35 degrees apart.



The following improvements have been added :

1. Improved VIEW OPTIONS EDGES OUTLINE

• The VIEW OPTIONS EDGES OUTLINE algorithm is now consistent with the new VIEW EDGES algorithm (i.e Mid-side node connectivity is now considered).
• The VIEW OPTIONS EDGES OUTLINE algorithm is now consistent for both 2D (plate) and 3D (volume) elements.

2. Smaller Database

The ELEMENT CONNECTIVITY dataset is now not required resulting in smaller .V60 files.

3. IJK functionality

The ELEMENT CONNECTIVITY dataset was not generated with 3D IJK models so these could not support some viewing functionality. Full functionality is now supported.
