INTRODUCTION

This document decribes the use of the program interfacing MSC/Nastran with FEMGV.

The interface program reads data from a file which has been created by NASTRAN using the DMAP OUTPUT2 utilitity module, and creates a sequential character file containing data in the form required for input to the FEMGV data base using the command `UTILITY READ VIEWDATA' at the index level.

Currently, the NASTRAN solution sequences that can be processed are:

SOL3, SOL5, SOL24, SOL26, SOL27, SOL30, SOL31, SOL47, SOL48, SOL61, SOL62, SOL63, SOL64, SOL65, SOL66, SOL68, SOL69, SOL71, SOL72, SOL77, SOL78, SOL81, SOL82, SOL83, SOL88, SOL91 and SOL99.

In general, one FEMVIEW model will be created with its associated results. For solutions using cyclic symmetry one FEMVIEW model is created containing the user defined segment and the results for all segments. For solutions involving superelements a seperate FEMVIEW model is created for each superelement.

The various results types that are generated by NASTRAN will be mapped onto the standard FEMVIEW results types as set out in Section 3 of this manual.
