1.7 Entering a Data Set Header

FEMVIEW divides all finite element data into data sets. A list of valid data set types and their associated header keys is given in Appendix 1 of this document. For each data set, a data set header must be entered using routine DIHED. This identifies the type of information which is to follow. Data can only be entered if a valid data set header has previously been entered using DIHED.

For User-defined results data sets, additional data set headers must be entered prior to entering the results data. These additional headers describe the result attribute and its components for the results data set which is to follow, and optionally any attribute variant records. These additional headers are entered using routines DIRHA, DIRHB, and DIRHC respectively. These additional headers must be entered for every results data set, even if all of the results data sets for a particular model have the same components and attribute variants.

For User-defined results, a data set is a load case containing one set of result attributes e.g. displacements. If results from a transient analysis are to be input, the results from each time step for each result attribute are entered as separate data sets. A complete description of User-defined results is given in the Appendices to the FEMGV User Manual.
