When romanizing a personal name abbreviated by more than one letter,
one should include all consonants and vowels of the
abbreviated name up to the last consonant of the
abbreviation.
For example, the abbreviation "alef-lamed" (for "Eli'ezer") would be romanized as "El."
When the last consonant of the abbreviation is yod, the same principle
is followed-- the romanization ends in "y", even if a "y"
would not be used in the full romanization of the name. So "alef-lamed-yod"
is "Eliy" in romanization (for both Eli'ezer and Eliyahu).
