February 23, 2005: From the Archives Princeton’s lovely collegiate
gothic architecture is enhanced by snow in this photograph that University
archivists date between the 1940s and the 1960s. Four unidentified students
walk out of the archway of Holder Court, considered one of the most attractive
spaces on campus. According to Alexander Leitch in A Princeton Companion,
gothic style on campus achieved “its highest expression” in
McCosh Hall, the Graduate College, the University Chapel, and Holder Hall.
