Leaving for home after Commencement,
diploma tucked under his arm, is Baltimores Edgar Allan Poe 1891.
(His father, John Poe 1854, was a cousin of the poet.) Edgar and his five
brothers contributed to many Princeton football victories between 1882
and 1902. During the Harvard game in 1889, an alumnus was asked by a Harvard
man if Poe was related to the great Edgar Allan Poe; the alumnus responded,
He is the great Edgar Allan Poe.
