| Tuesday | Hike north on the Long Trail to the Story Spring Shelter, camp. There is another group |
| | from Princeton staying at this shelter. There is enough space for two groups, but if the |
| | area is crowded by thru-hikers, then you must find another area. One idea is to |
| | continue north for 1.6 mi to USFS Rd 71. Camp 200 feet from the trail but DO NOT |
| | camp on private lands. There is a 1000 ft corridor on either side of USFS Rd 71 that is |
| | state land. There is a stream here called Black Brook. |

| | 0.5 miles to Kelly Stand Road, and take the Stratton Pond Trail (which is just to the |
| | right on Kelly Stand Road); Stratton Pond trail then joins up with Long Trail again at |
| | Stratton Pond; This shortcut cuts off 2.5 miles (doesn't climb Stratton Mountain). |

| Thursday | Hike north on the Long Trail, past Spruce Peak Shelter. When trail runs together with |
| | Old Rootville Rd. don't miss trialhead turnoff on right. Camp anywhere in between |
| | Spruce Peak Shelter and large running bridged-stream. This is "disperse" camping, and |
| | so you must be very aware of LNT!! (off trail 200-ft) |
