Turn on the EMP-20 Programmer (in back). There is a power light next to the ZIF socket (Zero Insertion Force) and the ZIF’s handle should be straight up.
Set the "T" switch on the shelf next to the programmer to your computer.
When the Intro Screen appears, press the Space Bar.
The Attempting to Establish Communication Screen will appear and should vanish momentarily.
Under Manufacturer
press "ENTER"

Under Manufacturer
press "ENTER" AMD (4), then TAB over to Device select 27C64
(8).
Under Manufacturer
press "ENTER"
Lattice (24), then TAB over to Device select
GAL16V8 (1).
When you return to the Main Menu make sure the correct Manufacturer and Device appear in the upper right corner of the screen. After the Device name the Family Module identification appears (01A)(03B for the GAL16V8). Once you are sure the Manufacturer, Device and Family Module are correct, PLUG IN YOUR DEVICE following the diagrams on the EMP-20, the bottom of the Device must be in the lowest ZIF socket location.
Select "Verify device is erased"(2).
Set the File
Range (T) to F000 then press enter. Next hex number should change to
FFFF, then hit ESC.
Set the File
Range (T) to E000 then press enter. Next hex number should change to
FFFF, then hit ESC.
Set the File Type to Intel Hex (JEDEC for GAL16V8).
Go to Buffer Editor (7) and Fill addresses 0000 to FFFF with FF.
Verify the
beginning and end of EPROM (0000, 0FFF)
Verify the
beginning and end of EPROM (0000, 1FFF)
Set File Name to your file. Ex. C:\MYDOCU~1\*.hex
Click Load file from disk(8).
Click Program with Selected Algorithm.
When the Programming the Device screen appears press Enter.
If the software asks if you want to Patch the Existing Data press "Y".
Turn off the programmer when done.
