AbstractThe very liberal view that early abortion requires no justification whatsoever seems incompatible with these attractive claims: some early fetuses are the appropriate objects of love; we are prohibited from harming some early fetuses; it is understandable to be upset by an early miscarriage; and it is reasonable to regret an abortion without regretting the choice to abort. I argue that it is compatible with these claims. We can adopt the actual future principle: An early fetus that will become a person has some moral status; an early fetus that will die while it is still an early fetus has no moral status.Last edited: "November 11, 2007, 07:32 pm" |
