Meshing
A new automatic tetrahedral mesh generator
from SIMULOG is integrated with FEMGV 6. This allows the Femgen user to generate
low and high order tetrahedral elements (TE4, TE10 & TE16). Most analysis codes
recommend the use of TE10’s over TE4’s due to over stiffness. As part of the integration,
a new quality test for tetrahedra called RADRAT and a JACOBIAN check for solid elements
have been introduced.
A typical application for the tetrahedral elements is the meshing of the new multi-faceted
bodies (created as described in section 2.2.2). Also the tetrahedral mesher can be
used on all conventional FEMGEN bodies.
The free quad meshing algorithm has been improved to include:
-
More interrupt tests,
-
Better crossing/connection tests,
-
Better handling of convex nodes on internal loops,
-
New scheme to deal with the case where holes have small element sides and the
outer boundary has relatively large,
-
New scheme to deal with concave - concave boundary segments, More appropriate
usage of memory.
