Although you may not in this course have any occasion to use footnotes (or endnotes: either would do), you should know the basic systems. Plural, because there are several: whichever system you use be consistent. Here is a common form for citing a book:

For citing an article from a journal::

For citing an essay in an edited collection:

For citing a source on the Internet:

"Shakespeare Resources on the Internet." Online WWW. Feb. 6, 2004 [i.e., give the date on which you accessed the material]. Available http://the-tech.mit.edu/Shakespeare/other.html
