Black Enterprise magazine has named Princeton as one of the country's top colleges for African-American students.
Princeton was ranked No. 38 among the top 50 institutions for
African-American students. The magazine evaluated more than 1,400
institutions for its rankings.
The rankings were determined through a survey of more than 500
African-American higher education professionals, who were asked to
assess the social and academic environments at the nation's colleges
and universities. Factors in the rankings also included graduation rate
of African-American students, undergraduate enrollment of
African-American students and their percentage of the total
undergraduate population.
Black Enterprise noted that 9.4 percent of Princeton freshmen in fall
2005 were African Americans, which represented a 38 percent increase
from the previous year and was the highest percentage among Ivy League
institutions.
The rankings appear in the September issue of Black Enterprise. More information can be found on the Black Enterprise Web site (registration required).
