The former location of the Grotto corresponds to the current vestibule of the Chapel.
The large marble groups of the Grotto survived its destruction and were relocated several times.

From 1684 to 1704, the Grotto groups stood in the Domes grove in the western part of the gardens.

Since 1778, the groups of Apollo tended by Nymphs and The Sun Horses are part of this setting created by Hubert Robert. The originals have been put indoors and replaced by casts.
