Meghan Durham is a dance artist, choreographer, educator, and advocate. She is the artistic director of Meghan Durham/MERGE Dance (www.mergedance.org), a dance organization committed to interdisciplinary work. Meghan also performs with Melanie Stewart Dance Theatre (www.melaniestewart.org) and Workshop for Potential Movement, professional dance theater companies based in Philadelphia, as well as independent choreographers in the area. From 1999-2004, Meghan was co-founder and creative director of Paradigm Dance Project (www.pdproject.org), an arts organization that provides access to dance for emerging artists and underserved populations. Through Paradigm, Meghan received funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, STAR Educational Foundation, and others to support outreach and community programming efforts in dance, in addition to creative projects in choreography and performance. She remains involved with Paradigm as an advisory board member. Meghan was a member of Mixed Metaphor Movement Company and performed with Dance South Repertory in North Carolina. She continues to choreograph and perform as an independent artist in Philadelphia, and was recently presented in the neW Festival as part of the DanceHouse series in June 2005 as a choreographer, and in the 2004 Philadelphia Live Arts Festival as a performer. Currently, she is a visiting lecturer for Princeton University's Program in Theater and Dance. Meghan has previously held dance faculty positions in the Department of Dance at Temple University, University of Utah's Department of Modern Dance and Westminster College's Program in Speech and Theater Arts; as well as Repertory Dance Theater's Community School and the Virginia Tanner Creative Dance Program. In 2002, Meghan was named to the Utah Arts Council's Artist Roster. She had the opportunity to contribute choreography to the 2002 Cultural Olympiad through Children's Dance Theater in conjunction with the 2002 Winter Olympics. Meghan remains committed to community service and advocacy for dance, having recently served on the boards of VSA/Arts Access and the Huntsman Cancer Institute's Pain and Palliative Care Advisory Board in Salt Lake City. In Philadelphia, Meghan sits on the board of Melanie Stewart Dance Theatre and she is a past donor/advisor to the Philadelphia Foundation. Meghan holds an MFA in Modern Dance from the University of Utah; an MS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and a BA from Wellesley College.
